I have often read that you should review your blog after 3 or so months to see whether it meets your original goals, to see if you need to change those goals, and to verify that you actually like this form of communication. So I decided to do just that.
First and foremost, I did find that I liked this blog-journal, but I am not sure that I like the format I have established. While I think the summaries are really good practice, my self-imposed word count is being eaten up with the summaries. So, I am going to try something different.
I have established the following questions to answer after finishing a book (in hopes that I will better meet my main goal of conveying the things I hope to take/learn from the piece):
- Summary in 3 or less sentences (Eek!!)
- What I liked and disliked
- What I would want to imitate
- What I would improve upon (if at all)
- Would I recommend it?
- What was my personal enjoyment level?
- How well did I think the beginning, middle, and end was done?
- What did I think about the writing, style and language? Why?
- Anything to note about the author?
- Quotes?
- Book information, awards, etc…
I hope this will be useful to my readers as well, so please feel free to let me know what your opinions are!
Kate
