About

Welcome to my blog, A Reader’s Review! My name is Kate, and I am a 20 somethings woman living in northern Illinois sharing my adventures in books. I love, love, love books – to read… or just to smell, hold or look at. And of course, the adventures they take me on.

I am studying and learning all I can about writing for children/young adults, as I hope to become a published author one day. I thought a blog would be a great place to compile my research and maybe others would find the information useful, too.

I love my husband, family, friends, church and dog, but I will try to keep that stuff out of here. My objectives for this blog are to provide:

  • Book Reviews: Honest opinions of the books I read, including popular or award winning books, as well as unpopular or unknown books that I come across. I want my readers, whether parents, teachers or just other avid readers like myself to get the true taste of a book – hype or no hype. Some questions I will try to answer are: What exactly made them popular? Did their popularity even make sense? How did they earn an award? (See other questions here).

You may disagree with me. It is only natural that different people will have different opinions, but I do hope you enjoy reading my blog anyway. And maybe even discovering new books along the way.

  • “Lessons Learned”  - I also try to provide “lessons-learned” from the books, which are things I learned that will hopefully make me a better reader/writer.
  • Sortable Book List – I’ll be honest, at this point I’m not sure whether that will just be the books I read (which will take some time accumulating), or any books I come across (which will be a tremendously long list). But I am hoping to provide a way to recommend good reads in kids lit that an aspiring author should know about and learn from.
  • Other Book Related news: Releases, Awards, Links, etc…

I do this because I love reading and writing. And even more, I do this in an effort to help those out there like me, who just want to know where to begin. I believe you begin with what you love, reading.
